Annual Rack Inspections-SEMA Approved Rack Inspectors
Keep your warehouse safe, compliant, and efficient with an inspection by a SEMA Approved Racking Inspector (SARI).
What is SEMA?
The Storage Equipment Manufacturers’ Association (SEMA) sets the UK benchmark for safe, compliant storage systems. SEMA guidance underpins best practice for pallet racking design, use, inspection and maintenance.
Why inspections matter
- Reduce repair costs & downtime by catching minor damage early.
- Prevent structural failures (bracing, beams, uprights, missing locks, overloading, loose floor bolts).
- Protect staff and stock from falling loads and potential collapse.
- Compliance: Follow HSE guidance (HSG76) with regular expert inspections.
- Longevity: Maintain your racking in optimal condition for longer service life.
HSG76 recommends a formal expert inspection at least every 12 months by a SEMA Approved Racking Inspector (SARI), alongside ongoing internal checks.
What a SARI inspection includes
Pre-inspection review
- Documentation: previous reports, maintenance records, modifications.
- Walk-through: identify obvious damage, overloading, or poor practices.
Detailed visual inspection
- Structure: uprights, beams, bracing, fixings for damage/deformation.
- Loadings: confirm safe working loads (SEMA/manufacturer limits).
- Flooring & anchorage: condition and adequacy to prevent instability.
- Safety: column guards, locks/pins, load signage, damage to protection.
